With over 40 years of mortgage banking experience, Sharon Rice serves as President, Mortgage Operations at Canvas Mortgage. Based in Hattiesburg, Sharon has held almost every position within the industry and developed deep insights into making the mortgage lending experience better for her employees and customers alike. Throughout her career, Sharon has excelled in cultivating winning teams while gaining majority market share. Sharon is adept at creating thriving relationships with strategic partners and investors who believe in our team’s ability to consistently deliver high-quality loans. She has successfully created and managed several correspondent teams over the years to deliver premium quality mortgages, and also served as president of another community bank’s mortgage division. Sharon brings an entrepreneur’s mindset to our work at Canvas, as she founded a successful mortgage company based in Hattiesburg.

Sharon was born and raised in Gulfport, Mississippi, where she graduated from Gulfport High. Her greatest passion in life is family, and she loves to spend time with her 11 grandchildren. A longtime advocate for her community, Sharon has served Homes of Hope as President of the board.. She also volunteers with the Urban Ministry, United Christian Ministries, and The Arc. When she’s not at work or volunteering, Sharon enjoys camping, reading, and spending time with her husband and toy poodle. Hands down, her favorite thing about working in the mortgage industry is helping first-time homeowners navigate the buying process.
